Bliss Buttons Etsy shop

Hooray! Finally the shop is up and active. Of course blissbuttons.com never went away, but here's for another place to sell things. Visit my Etsy shop here.

Stop by, say hello, let me know what you think.

dresses

Had some fun this weekend with some girls from work. My friend Shannon is getting married this December so I tagged along as she tried on wedding dresses. Oh she's just going to be a beautiful bride! Of course I can't really show much, but I had fun being a fashion photographer for the afternoon.
Here's a peak.

(Don't worry, this isn't the one she picked, but I love this shot.)

It's a wintery kind of day.

delightful

I love yellow. I know I say that I love a lot of things, but I really do. And yellow is up there with husband, sunshine and mint chocolate. Here's some loveliness from Snippet & Ink.

Oh, and it's snowing. It's a great kind of day.

altphotos.com

Today I was introduced to altphotos.com by my friend and co-worker David Andrews. He's a fantastic photographer and I feel very lucky to work with someone who is so talented!

I am absolutely inspired and excited by the site. There is a lot of Eastern European flair in the photos. Last night our new lensbaby came (more on that later) so we're looking forward to taking awesome shots like this one below. Happy Thursday!

babies

I will soon be embarking on a year-long adventure of taking pictures of little unborn Jude (so excited).
In preparation of that, my eye has ben drawn to all things baby. For example, this cute photo above.
Please don't judge if I post lots of baby things, but I'll try to contain myself.
And no, I'm not hinting at anything. :)

I'm liking this today. If it was, say, $50 cheaper, I'd consider it.

snow. 93 inches of it.

Not here in Tennessee, but in lovely Mammoth, California. I have lots of nice memories there. My fabulous friend Leslie has a family cabin there that I've ventured to often. In December of '08 Jonathan and I cross-country skied in Mammoth and had a really awesome time. Below are some photos from that time.
Oh how I wish we were there now...to enjoy all that fresh powder!

elizabeth and james

Since I was a kid, I was a fan of MK+A. I thought they were beautiful, talented, fun and more.
Now-a-days I  enjoy an occasional movie fest with Leslie and loads of laughter. Oh how I wanted to be just like them.

Today, they are fashion designers. To be honest, I don't love the line, but I do find some of it intriguing.
I was looking through their Spring line, and I enjoyed this photo. What do you think?

suitcases & airplanes

oh. my. goodness.

I love this. Does anyone want to go on a vintage shoot?
If my dad was still around, I know he'd enjoy these pictures.
I've got a soft spot for planes since I grew up hearing stories of his flying adventures.
And photography. He loved that too.

a knit chair

Remember this post? Well that knit chandelier wasn't enough. Check out this sweet chair! Sweet Paul just posted it and I wish I had some knit sweaters to hot glue to a funky wood chair. And...he's coming out with a magazine. Eep!

J and I are going to have a low-key weekend at home this time. I can't wait.

tea hangers

I think Husband in particular will enjoy this post.
He brought home mass quantities of loose tea the other day.
Aren't these tea hangers awesome?
We love tea.

crayon sculpture art

My brother-in-law sent me this link. Herb Williams is a sculptor who works with crayons to create various art pieces. Check it out. I think this is pretty neat.

This makes me happy. I'd like to go on a cross-country road trip. Soon.

[Unfortunately I can't remember where I found this image.]

knit lamp shades and more

Isn't this the perfect look for a cozy, wintery cabin?
Today we had a partial snow day at work. We got to start at 10 am.
However, I wish there was more snow on the ground so I could go outside and play...and perhaps not so cold. It's currently 22°F with a windchill of 11°F. Yikes!

For instructions to make this lamp shade, visit Sweet Paul.

Happy weekend!

some photoshop magic

I do mostly magazine layout in my job, but every now and then I get to dabble in some Photoshop work.

Today I was working on a cover and I really liked this image, but the subjects head was cut off, therefore not allowing enough room for a masthead (magazine title) above her. So I looked around, found another photo of the same woman with a similar background and gave her a head. It only took me 30 minutes and I think it turned out great. When you zoom in super close, you still can't tell. It was so happy with the results that I had to share.

typography

I love typography. It's a challenge and it's often very rewarding when I'm finished.
To be clear, I didn't create this piece, but I do think it's beautiful. It's simple and very elegant.
Is it ok that I want one, just to hang on my new bulletin board? (Photos of that project later.)

Shabby Apple

It's been a whirlwind. One week of swine flu, a sleep-all-day-because-I'm-ill Christmas, followed by our first wedding shoot, lots of loving family visits and dinners, New Year's parties, lots of Glee, a new camera to play with, and another wedding. We survived. We learned a lot, and it was glorious. Last night Jonathan's parents came over to say goodbye and they helped us take down our first Christmas tree. The holidays are over and I think my cough is finally gone.

I'm ready to get my life back in order and I'm ready to start blogging again. I miss you!

I must finish some freelance work this week as well as finish the photos from the wedding.
I have lots to post so check back this week.

In the mean time, stop by Shabby Apple for some well deserved eye candy. It's a beautiful and inspirational shop. If you've got cash to splurge, get 20% off by entering WINTER20OFF at checkout.

Happy 2010!
